db_EGY-_XVIIII_-_The_Dazzling_Light1-320x500The Sun shines in the sky, looking at you calmly and sternly. Below is a peaceful landscape. In many versions of this card, a child (or children) is depicted against the background of a low stone wall. In the Rider-Waite cards by Pamela Smith (1910), a child sits on a horse and sunflowers rise from behind a wall.

Either way, this card depicts that long-awaited world of light and joy that we had been striving for throughout our entire journey. We were able to reach it only because we were led by a power greater than human, thanks to which the spark of life does not fade at all its stages, no matter how many there are. It comes the end of another stage, but it no longer frightens us: we know that the next one will come after it. Our mind is clear, it has learned to comprehend the main thing, cutting off the unnecessary. Much is accessible to us, much is within our power; but reason is a formidable weapon, and to use it it is necessary with great responsibility.

Other names for this card: The Master of the World Fire.

SPIRITUAL EXPLANATION: The Sun reflects the light of Tiphareth, located in the very center of the Tree of Life. The overall theme of this card is positive achievements and the search for spiritual enlightenment. It also implies that a state of innocence (chastity) and purity will be achieved during the mystical quest for unity with God. This card is clearly ruled by the Sun, which represents unity and vitality, the force that supports Nature.

TARO MEANING: This is a very positive card in a Tarot spread. It signifies joy and happiness, as well as success, positive achievements, and good health. Your relationships will be blessed with shared happiness and prosperity, and your efforts will bear fruit.
This is also a time to explore your creative potential and positive new ideas for the future, as they will bring prosperity when you are in touch with the life-giving and nourishing power of your inner spiritual Sun.

REVERSED MEANING: Your future is clouded and unclear at this time. You may suffer a serious loss or failure in your business. Your relationships are in jeopardy: an engagement is likely to fall through or difficulties in your marriage may arise. Now is the time to pause, take a realistic look at your life and ask yourself in what direction you are moving.

SELF-DEVELOPMENT LESSON: When we are ruled by the spiritual Sun, we move towards a state of enlightenment and humility. We seek to return to a state of innocence and Oneness in the realm of Spirit.

WORK:The Sun signifies that we enjoy our work and we do it with enthusiasm and success. In addition, it symbolizes a warm, friendly atmosphere in the team, good relations with partners, superiors, colleagues, a good aura and the ability to clearly and intelligibly express your ideas and thoughts.

CONSCIOUSNESS: This, perhaps, is the main meaning of the Sun card. This is the awakening, blossoming and maturation of our solar nature, identified with our true Self. The solar nature includes, firstly, such qualities as self-confidence, self-confidence, self-knowledge and self-awareness, independence. Secondly, the rejection of oneself, self-love, egoism at the lowest level and the transition to the awareness of one's Self at the highest level. This process has nothing in common with the escape from oneself, which underlies the self-sacrificing impulses of those who like to help everyone. The true path to oneself begins with the paradoxical question about Joseph Müller, formulated by Dirkheim: «How can Joseph break through Müller?» Here the surname Müller, as one of the most common in Germany, symbolizes the impersonal external Self, and the name Joseph the individual essence, the inner Self of a person. Try asking yourself the same question, and you will understand what we are talking about.

PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Here the Sun personifies the most cloudless, warm relationships, a minimum of problems, enterprise and all sorts of joys in life. At the event level, it can mean a vacation. At a deep level — generosity, magnanimity, the ability to give yourself without losing yourself at all. This is a symbol of cordiality, kindness, light that disperses the clouds. The partners take care of each other, even pamper each other, mutual understanding and love reign between them.

Names in other languages: Il Sole, Le Soleil, The Sun, Die Sonne.

Astrological correspondences:The Sun and Leo. The Sun in the 5th house as a symbol of the joy of life, creativity and enjoyment of the game.

Kabalistic meaning of the Arcana: an axe.

Occult meaning of the Arcana: mind.

Physical meaning of the Arcana: absolute truth.

Places: fertile, productive lands; rich firms; well-stocked store; deans' offices and rectorates in higher educational institutions; elegant apartments.

The Sun (Witches Tarot) Major Arcana

The Sun Card Meaning

You have reached a high level of consciousness. You have a rich, wise soul, and you now know what happiness is. You have produced offspring, grown a tree, and killed a snake. You have understood what your purpose is, paid off your karmic debt and can now help others with this. Be kind to them.

The Sun is one of the best cards in the deck. It gives a favorable answer to almost any question. As a rule, it speaks of good health (recovery), well-being of children, good luck in business. Sometimes it confirms the indication of the birth of a child. And even in an inverted form it retains its meaning, except that it points to a light cloud that has run over the Sun; but this cloud will soon dissipate.

And, since the Sun goes around the celestial circle in a year, this card can indicate a period of time lasting one year.

For businessmen, oddly enough, nothing good, unless they invest money in pharmacology or in education, either primary or higher. If not, then nothing threatens them personally, but their business will experience difficulties due to government policy.

Now you can clearly see your path. What you have worked so hard for is ready to bear fruit. You may even receive gifts that you do not deserve and perhaps did not expect. Do not analyze them, do not question them, do not break them down into small parts, trying to understand their real meaning. Simply accept and enjoy them.

You have worked very hard. You deserve to enjoy what you have earned and what you have received as gifts. Take the time to at least taste the fruits of your labor. There is nothing wrong with being proud of your achievements and enjoying the results of your labor. If you have not known this simple truth, now is the time to learn it: you do not live to work. You work to live.

The moon shines with reflected light, it is not bright enough to illuminate hidden knowledge. But the sun is a source of light and warmth, it illuminates knowledge, gives understanding, clarity and happiness.

Halfway between Heaven and Earth, the sun serves as a mediator between God and humanity. It is at once the lowest aspect of the divine and the highest aspect of the mundane. The Sun Tarot card symbolizes the transition between the visible light of this world and the spiritual light of the world you seek. If you are able to accept the gifts of the Sun with a childlike heart, wise in its innocence, simplicity, and readiness to enjoy life, this will be the next step towards the divine.

This is not an injunction to stop using your mind! Far from it. Children are constantly learning. It is, in fact, an injunction to follow the teachings of not only your mind, but your heart as well. You are receiving a great gift. What you have learned so far allows you to simply enjoy yourself without introspection.

Perhaps the lesson taught here is as difficult to apply in practice as Temperance. Throughout all the previous stages of your quest, you have had to strive for and achieve a very important goal. The Sun card teaches that sometimes it is necessary to stop and smell the roses. You are allowed to enjoy what you have learned and achieved!

As the midpoint between the divine and the mundane, the Sun Tarot is an allegory of the seeker's self-identification and his joy in living here and now, as well as the hope that life will move to a higher level of being.

Type of person in the upright position: a natural leader; a realized person, full of vitality and energy; one who deservedly occupies a high position.

Type of person in the inverted position: a psychopath; a person with suicidal tendencies; a person living in conflict with himself and his inclinations.

Psychological meaning of the Sun Arcana: you have reached the highest level of self-awareness, you see your bad and good sides, you know how to overcome shortcomings and deepen your virtues. You have a rich, wise and experienced soul that has experienced a lot in this and previous incarnations. You have known happiness and were able to leave your mark on our earth. You know what the mission is with which you came to earth this time, and you do not refuse to fulfill it, because by realizing it, you realize yourself. You have already paid off your karmic debts, worked off everything that you had to work off in this incarnation. Your character did not break under the blows of fate and you did not succumb to trivial temptations. Now you can earn good karma for yourself, and also help others in this. People like you are called «Initiated» in esotericism.

The Sun card expresses love of life, joy of life, warmth and confidence in the future. In our consciousness, it corresponds to the forces that help to gain clarity, overcome fears and deep anxieties, overcome delusions. In addition, the Sun personifies youth and such freshness of feelings, as if a person was born again. This is the bright, sunny side of life. On a deeper level, it is advice to overcome your dark side, to let our sunny nature open up, to recognize your «shadow self» in yourself and bring it to the light of God.

    • Timal says:
